Family Vacation

Sharing is caring!

{My daughter Whitney, My grandson Daxten and Me.  There is so much to say about this picture!  Whitney is expecting our 4th grand baby!!  (their second) Her first is laying at her feet in this picture refusing to take a picture with us and I am holding Daxten’s arm down because his cute little finger was up his nose in the first picture!  Oh the joys of grandchildren! }

Ok you guys, I have to say that I have been struggling with my blog lately.  When I first started the blog, I thought I would do just that, blog!  You know, write about the things I love to do and share them with you and maybe, just maybe someone would read what I have to say.  However, since that time, almost two years later, I have learned that there is so much more to blogging.  I mean people write blogs about how to blog because there is so much to learn.  I am not here to bore you with all the things I’ve learned so far or what I need to learn.  Instead I am going to share with you what I have been up to.

I am excited to share with you that I am adding a new category to the blog.  I’m sure you have no idea what a category is, just know that I will be adding posts to the blog where I will be sharing life events on Lyndale Drive.  I am going to call it “What’s Up Wednesday”.  After struggling with the direction I want my blog to go and where I thought I would be with it by now, I realized that I don’t just make things, or decorate, or turn trash to treasure.  I have a life.  A life that is filled with friends, family and life!

Dad's and cousins

That brings us to “What’s Up Wednesday”.  These Wednesday posts will be an update of sorts to my life and the what happens around our home on Lyndale Drive.  Today I am going to take you back to one of my favorite events so far this summer.  Family Vacation.

Discovering Your Style, Love Your Home

Decorating your home and discovering your style doesn’t have to be difficult. This guide will help you to create a home using some simple design tips that will make your house feel more like a home. A place you love to be.

We traveled to Northern Minnesota to what we call “Harmon’s Nest”.  A beautiful home owned by my parents near Ely, MN.  You may remember this beautiful place from my vacation last year when my Dad and I built a gorgeous harvest table for the lake house.  This year we relaxed and enjoyed the time we spent together as a family.  We did find time to squeeze in a couple of projects.  Dad replaced the basement stair treads, we changed out the steps leading to the lake and I painted a sign for the guest cottage.  None of which I took pictures of…..oops!  I was on vacation.

Daxten Fishing

I did have time to practice using my new camera, obviously I am still in training!  Miss Ava fell in love with Freddie the Bear!  Giving him kisses each day was a must do on her vacation “fun” list.

Learning to fish was on Daxten’s vacation “fun” list, even if it was with his magnetic tub pole rigged with a bobber like dads.

Taking two little humans on a vacation at a lake that involves driving them in a car for 8 hours is lets say, exhausting!  However, I wouldn’t have it any other way.  We have been traveling to the lake house for 13 years now and I love the memories that we make every year we go.

Until next Wednesday!
