Hutch Decorating Ideas, Tip 1:
Start by clearing out the entire space you are going to style. It was easy with this project because we had just flipped the living and dining rooms. You can read about that here. I put away everything I know I won’t use (in this case any winter greens and decor). Next I bring out anything I “think” I might use. It gets messy!
Personally I like adding items to this hutch that provide some contrast to the white cabinet. Adding wood pieces and greenery will warm up the vignette and add texture and dimension. These element will really make you display pop!
I love using old books too. I have this great collection of vintage encyclopedias, the spines are green and would work fine for this hutch decorating ideas, but I liked them turned around with pages showing for a little different look.
Hutch Decorating Tip 2:
Using like items in groups of 3 or 5 will make your groupings look better. You can see that I have used this design idea by grouping things together and through out. Three pitchers grouped together in one space or using three to five pieces of wood tone items throughout the entire display. Does that make any sense?
I am no pro at this by any means, I put things together, stand back, look at it and think Nope! I keep messing with it until I feel like it looks right. Sometimes I start completely over! And often times it takes me days to get it right. And then there are times when I hate it all and never love it.
Tip 3:
The final hutch decorating ideas tip is to include greenery. There are so many beautiful faux plants out there these days. I have several linked in my shop pages. I’m not going to lie, I still don’t love this arrangement and I know I will continue to tweak it until I do love it! You can see by these pictures, which were all taken on the same day……….things have already changed!
I get asked all the time where we got this hutch, would you believe me if I told you we made it? Read all about it here.
