Hydrangeas Are in The Air

Sharing is caring!

The seasons are changing and so is the look of the porch on Lyndale Drive!  And if is official, we have changed the name of our blog from Home of DIY to Lyndale Drive!  I have been working hard lately getting this website up and running, that I have neglected my creative ways.  Although I have been busting at the seams to put out some fall decorations, however this crazy weather makes it hard to know what season I should decorate for!

On Sunday I was in the house hanging out with my grandson, when I received a text from a friend that said “get out here”.  I opened the door I found a huge pile of beautiful hydrangeas laying in the garage.  I said to Daxten, “It’s time to go outside and play buddy!!!”  Since it feels too soon to decorate for fall, some fresh and hydrangeas were just what my creative juices needed to make a change!

I love decorating my porch and finding fun elements to style with for all the seasons.  Adding these fun items are sometimes a little unexpected add interest and pops of color.  I love using the shabby looking Adirondack chair to hold pillows, baskets or watering cans.  My son Jacob actually made this chair when he was in high school.  Maybe I can talk him into making me a few more for the fire pit area, or the new She Shed that Mike is building!!

I usually hang an old screen or window that I have painted on above the chair.  This time I layered a floral wreath on top of a screen to add some dimension, and probably a place for the birds to nest and crap on the step!  Oh well, it is cute!  I made the brick chimney out of some old bricks and a concrete patio paver.  It is easy enough to move it if I need to and provides a great place for potted plants and flowers.  The ammunition shell came from a great little online shop AntiqueFarmhouse.com  I get lots of fun stuff from this place including that cute mail box and my Farmhouse scale.

The Firestone wagon adds a pop of color to this late summer porch and provides another fun place for flowers.  This wagon will be fun to fill with pumpkins and Christmas decorations when that season arrives!
