I love the simplicity of this farmhouse table decor using things I already had around the house.  An antique kitchen scale and flour sifters filled with plants and pumpkins give this table dressing a fun and simple farmhouse feel.  I used a vintage wool blanket as the table cloth and mason jars for drinking glasses.  The little pieces in the center of the dishes are actually antique children’s toy baking dishes.  I bought them from a friend of mine, having no idea what I was going to do with them. I remember when I was a kid, my mom took me with her while she  helped a friend wallpaper their home.  The house was out in the country and had lots of out buildings, including a little play house.  I remember this play house was all set up with a wooden kitchen cabinets and home made appliances.  It even had a table and chairs.  I remember playing with the china dishes and little tin baking dishes just like these.   Who would have figured that 45 years later I would have a set of my own!  Maybe one day my grand kids will use the “she shed” as a play house and play with them like I did as a kid!  (Grandpa might have to build a kitchen out there) Who knows!  Until then I will use them to decorate with!

In these pictures you will see that I added a wire basket filled with pumpkins and gourds.  Again, to give it the farmhouse touch,  I added an old muffin tin, some tarnished silver spoons and an antique vegetable slicer.

Look around the house and use what you already have, use the unexpected, like this antique truck!  Mike thought I was nuts when I pulled this truck out of the mancave and used it to decorate our dining room table for fall.  Well he knows I’m a little nuts so who cares – it’s cute!
